I Bought My Wife a Ninja SLUSHi for Her Birthday—and This Thing Is Awesome

So for my wife’s birthday, I decided to get her something that we absolutely did not need.

A Ninja SLUSHi.

And honestly?

This thing is freaking awesome.

The idea is pretty simple. You pour a drink into it, turn it on, and it turns that drink into a frozen slush without having to dump a bunch of ice into a blender.

That’s it.

And somehow that’s enough to make me ridiculously entertained by it.

Everything Becomes a Slush Now

Of course, once you have a machine whose entire purpose is turning drinks into frozen drinks, there’s only one logical thing to do:

Start looking around the kitchen wondering…

“Will it slush?”

Soda? Let’s try it.

Lemonade? Absolutely.

Juice? Why not?

Some random drink we found at the grocery store?

GET IN THE MACHINE.

That’s probably been half the fun of owning it so far.

It’s basically given us an excuse to experiment with drinks that we’d normally just pour into a glass and forget about.

The Frosted Lemonade Experiment

This is also where my wife has started getting dangerous with this thing.

We recently stopped at Chick-fil-A and got a Frosted Lemonade. We’ve had them before, but for whatever reason, this one just didn’t taste right.

My wife apparently took that personally.

Pretty much immediately, she decided that she needed to try making her own version at home with the Ninja SLUSHi.

And damn.

It was good.

Like, really good.

She managed to get that creamy lemonade flavor we were looking for, except this time we could make it exactly how we wanted it.

That’s when I realized the SLUSHi might actually be more fun for experimenting than simply pouring a soda into it.

Now instead of saying, “Let’s go get a frozen drink,” we can say:

“Screw it. Let’s make our own.”

And knowing my wife, I have a feeling that Frosted Lemonade was only the beginning.

It’s Surprisingly Easy

I think the biggest thing I like about the SLUSHi is that it doesn’t feel like a huge production.

I don’t want to pull out a blender, crush a bunch of ice, figure out the right ratio of everything, make a gigantic mess, and then spend ten minutes cleaning everything afterward.

I just want a slush.

The Ninja basically handles that.

Pour your drink in, choose the setting, and let the machine do its thing.

But Let’s Talk About Margaritas…

Now, as much fun as regular slushies are, I’m particularly looking forward to my wife making margaritas in this thing.

Because let’s be real: a machine sitting on the counter that can make frozen drinks is basically begging to become a margarita machine.

I’m already imagining us trying different margarita flavors and seeing what works. Classic lime, strawberry, mango… I’m sure we’ll come up with some questionable experiments along the way.

She may have gotten a SLUSHi for her birthday.

I may have accidentally gotten us a margarita machine.

And I’m completely okay with that.

Was It a Necessary Purchase?

Absolutely not.

This might be one of the least necessary appliances in our kitchen.

But that’s also kind of why I like it.

Not everything you buy has to solve some major problem or make you more productive.

Sometimes you buy your wife a machine that turns drinks into slushies because it’s her birthday and slushies are awesome.

And now the entire family gets to benefit from it.

Although technically it’s still her birthday present.

I’m just conducting extensive product testing.

For science.

Would I Buy It Again?

So far?

Hell yes.

It’s one of those appliances that sounds a little ridiculous until you actually have one sitting on your counter.

Now I’m constantly thinking about what we’re going to put in it next.

And considering this started as a birthday present for my wife…

I may be enjoying her present a little too much.

Especially once she starts making margaritas.
